Handmade Bodhi seed mala from Nepal ![]() The Bodhi Seed signifies the Buddha's attainment of enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. While especially revered by Buddhists, a bodhi seed mala is considered auspicious to use for all practices, and represents spiritual promise, dedication and faith. The Bodhi tree at the Mahabodhi Temple is called the Sri Maha Bodhi. According to Buddhist texts the Buddha, after his Enlightenment, spent a whole week in front of the tree, standing with unblinking eyes, gazing at it with gratitude. Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras, as well as other prayers, prostrations, circumambulations, and so forth. This basic, traditional mala has 108 Bodhi seed beads strung on heavy cotton cord. The beads don't have knots between them. The larger size of these beads can be very satisfying for counting.
The total number of beads in mala - 108+1 , the Bodhi mala also has 3 turquoise tumble beads and red coloured glass beads.
Size of beads - 14 mm (approx.)
