Sri Narasimha is incarnation of Lord Vishnu and he is known as the ‘Protector’ who specifically defends and protects his devotees in times of need and distress. Ugram Viram Maha Vishnum is known as obstacle remover Narasimha mantra. Sri Narasimha Mantra is given below:-

Narsimha mantra
Ugram Viram Maha Vishnum Jvalantam Sarvato Mukham

Nirisimham Bhishanam Bhadram Mrutyur Mrutyum Namamy Aham

उग्रं वीरं महाविष्णुं ज्वलन्तं सर्वतोमुखम्।

नृसिंहं भीषणं भद्रं मृत्युमृत्युं नमाम्यहम् ॥

 



I bow down to Lord Narasimha who is highly ferocious and brave and the emanation of Lord Maha Vishnu. He is full of effulgence, terrific and auspicious and the death of death.

हे भगवान विष्णुं, आप बहुत तेजवान और बहादुर हैं। आप सर्वशक्तिमान हैं। आप मृत्यु को पराजित करने वालों में से एक हैं और मैं स्वयं को आपको समर्पित करता हूँ

 


Word by Word Translation:

Ugram – the ferocious one

Viram – The most courageous

Mahavishnum – The all-pervasive one (Lord Maha Vishnu)

Jvalantam – the effulgence of fire

Sarvato Mukham – Having his face everywhere (manifested throughout the universe)

Nrisimham - The Lion-man form

Bhishanam – The terrific

Bhadram – The auspicious

Mrutyur Mrutym – death of death

Namamy Aham – I bow down and revere
