This beautiful Ashtakam song was composed by Shri Vishwanath Chakravarti Thakur, one of the acharyas of the Gaudiya Vaishnava sect. Devotees sing Shri Govardhan ashtakam and invoke the grace of the Lord Krishna. The Rudrashtakam is an ashtakam or octet (a prayer with eight rhyming verses) dedicated to the manifestation of Bhagwan Shiva. This eightfold hymn of praise was sung to please Shiv Shankara.
