Shri Vikrant Bhairav is a revered form of Lord Bhairav associated with the spiritual traditions of Ujjain. Bhairav, a powerful manifestation of Lord Shiva, is traditionally associated with courage, protection and the removal of fear. The name Vikrant signifies valour, strength and fearlessness.
The following four-verse prayer is commonly circulated as the Vikrant Bhairav Stotra. While the tradition of Vikrant Bhairav is associated with Ujjain, the specific ancient scriptural source of these verses has not been independently verified. It is therefore presented here as a devotional prayer, without attributing it to a particular Purana or Tantra.
श्री विक्रान्त भैरव स्तोत्रम्
नमस्ते विक्रान्तभैरवाय महाकालस्वरूपिणे।
भक्तरक्षासमर्थाय नित्यं दुःखविनाशिने॥
त्रिनेत्रधारिणे तुभ्यं कपालमालाभूषिताय।
उग्ररूपं महावीरं कृपानिधिं नमाम्यहम्॥
कालदण्डधरं देवं सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायकम्।
भूतप्रेतविनाशाय भैरवं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥
शत्रुबाधाहरं देवं भयदुःखविनाशनम्।
संकटेषु सदा पायाद् विक्रान्तं भैरवं विभुम्॥

हे विक्रान्त भैरव, महाकाल के स्वरूप, आपको प्रणाम है। आप भक्तों की रक्षा करने वाले और दुःखों का नाश करने वाले हैं। त्रिनेत्रधारी, कपालमाला से सुशोभित और उग्र स्वरूप वाले हे महावीर, मैं आपको नमन करता हूँ। हे कालदण्डधारी भैरव, आप सिद्धियों के प्रदाता और नकारात्मक शक्तियों के विनाशक माने जाते हैं। संकट के समय आप सदैव हमारी रक्षा करें।
